Culinary delights at Clico this summer

Clico Boutique Hotel, renowned for its chic aesthetics, delicious food and warm hospitality, is offering a delectable culinary feast and special accommodation rates to business and leisure travellers, as well as outside diners, in celebration of its third anniversary.

Chef Sean Ackerman has created some exciting new food combinations and has also taken notice of regular diners’ requests to keep old favourites on the menu. The dishes include:

Starters:
Seared scallops served on an oven-roasted garlic mash, finished with a red pepper emulsion and nuts;
Tender chicken pieces cooked with almonds and pesto wrapped in a phyllo parcel baked and presented on porcini mushrooms and leeks;
A large brown mushroom topped with grilled courgettes and angel-hair pasta – the pasta is made with saffron and mustard and is topped with crispy pancetta and drizzled with pesto;
A whole large tomato stuffed with a savoury rice pasta and sundried tomato baked in the oven and served with a burnt butter sauce.

Mains:
Choice cut of fillet rolled in herbs, black pepper and Maldon sea salt, then pan-fried in butter and served on new potatoes finished with a herb butter;
Fresh line fish poached in white wine and bay leaves, topped with a Pernod and saffron buerre blanc;
A fillet of Cape salmon grilled with the skin on and presented on spinach and cabbage noodles,
finished with poached quails’ eggs;
Three tender marinated French-trimmed lamb chops marinated overnight in lemon herb yoghurt,
served with cous cous.

Dessert:
Cardamom-infused panna cotta served with cinnamon syrup;
Poached apples served with a cognac cream and mascarpone;
Jellied apple served with a syrup of apple and a side of apple doughnut;
Seasonal fruit galettes served with homemade ice cream.

Lunch prices: One-course from R85, two-course from R120 and three-course from R160 per person;
Dinner prices: three-course set menu priced from R240 and wine can be paired with each course from an additional R85 per person.

Dinner and lunch reservations are welcomed, whilst overnight guests advise the chef when they’ll be dining in.

Clico is a welcome haven for business and leisure travellers to Johannesburg, whilst enjoying popularity as a villa for hire for corporate or special events, including weddings.

Guests also have the option to enjoy wellness treatments by prior arrangement with a nearby spa, and golf at some of Gauteng’s finest nearby golf courses.

Elegantly decorated in the finest silk drapes, with feather-soft beds, inviting sofas, a convivial fireplace and hues that soothe the senses, and with private balconies overlooking the garden and pool, Clico is the ideal venue for small groups, including corporate meetings and exclusive events. Several fairy-tale weddings have been held here.

All nine beautifully appointed rooms are en-suite and designed to executive standards, complete with mini-bars, air-conditioning, under-carpet heating and heated bathrooms, telephones in the rooms, and wireless internet. ADSL lines, fax, scanning and photocopying facilities keep guests in contact with the outside world, yet in a tranquil environment. There is secure parking on the premises and 24-hour security.
